Announcement: The last date for conversion of PIO to OCI cards has been now stock-still as 31.12.2017

10. Status check/Collection of OCI cards:

a) Condition of the OCI card can be checked by the applicant past quoting passport number and Web file number. If the condition shows date of acceleration from New Delhi, the applicant can collect his/her OCI card afterwards 10 days of shown dispatch date.

b) The bidder may collect the OCI booklet from Indian Embassy either in person or through a duly authorized person. A. OCI CARD FOR PIO Menu HOLDERS

B. OVERSEAS CITIZENSHIP OF INDIA (OCI) Carte(FRESH APPLICAIONS)

1.Eligibility

A foreign national, who was eligible to become a citizen of Bharat on 26.01.1950 or was a citizen of Bharat on or at whatsoever time after 26.01.1950 or belonged to a territory that became part of India after xv.08.1947 and his/her children and grandchildren, is eligible for registration equally an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). Minor children of such person are besides eligible for OCI. Nevertheless, no person, who or either of whose parents or grandparents or smashing grandparents is or had been a citizen of Pakistan, Bangladesh shall be eligible for registration equally an Overseas Citizen of Bharat Cardholder.

Benefits to OCI:

• Multiple-entry, multi-purpose life-long visa to visit India;
• Exemption from reporting to Police government for any length of stay in India;
• Parity with NRIs in financial, economic and educational fields except in the acquisition of agricultural or plantation backdrop;
• A person registered equally OCI is eligible to apply for grant of Indian citizenship under department v(1) (g) of the Citizenship Human activity, 1955 if he/she is registered as OCI for five years and has been residing in India for 1 yr out of the five years before making the application;
• Any other benefits to OCI which may exist notified past the Ministry of Overseas Indian Diplomacy (MOIA) under Section 7B (1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955.

Benefits to which OCI is not entitled:

• The OCI card holder is not entitled to vote;

• Cannot normally hold employment in the Government.

a) IF APPLYING ON THE BASIS OF SELF-INDIAN ORIGIN PROOF : Please upload and attach with application form, post-obit documents:

1.  Self-attested copy of present valid passport with validity of minimum half dozen months at the fourth dimension of submission of awarding.

(i) Re-create of child's nascency certificate. If nativity document is issued by Indonesian Regime it should be attested by Ministry of Strange Diplomacy, Indonesia (Kemlu) along with attested English translation. If the document is issued in India, should be attested past Ministry of External Affairs, Republic of india. In instance the nascence certificate is issued by a strange potency, it is to be Apostled or endorsed by the concerned Indian Mission abroad. Only attested copy should be uploaded

(two) Copy of Indian passport of the parents / one of the parents OR

parents/ one of the parents as being Indian citizen(southward)

(three) If the parents are divorced, court guild of dissolution of wedlock, which specifically mentions that the legal custody of the kid is with the parent who is applying for the OCI card.

d) IF APPLYING ON THE BASIS OF  INDIAN NATIONAL SPOUSE OR INDIAN ORIGIN OF SPOUSE: Please upload and attach with application following documents:

Processing Fourth dimension:

The processing time for re-result of OCI card is 2 weeks.

D - Observe for Miscellaneous Service Applicants.

With a view to avoid inconvenience to OCI cardholders who may be required to get their OCI cards re-issued due to issuance of a new passport, Ministry of Home Affairs vide order dated 22.03.2021 had granted extension of time till 31.12.2021 to all eligible foreigners to become their OCI cards re-issued, if so required. Such OCI cardholders will be allowed to travel to / from India on the strength of their existing OCI cards bearing old passport number along with the new passport.Farther, Central Government vide orders dated 16.04.2021 has at present dispensed with the requirement to re-consequence an OCI card each time a new passport is issued to a foreigner upwards to 20 years of historic period and once later on completing fifty years of age. Re-issue of OCI card volition at present be required only once i.e. when a new passport is issued later completing xx years of historic period. This is to inform that Government of India has decided to grant temporary relaxation till 30thJune 2020 in the following cases:

• In example an OCI bill of fare holder below the age of xx years has not got the OCI carte re-issued on change of passport, he/she may travel on the strength of his/her existing OCI card bearing quondam passport number subject to the status that along with the new passport, the OCI cardholder carries old passport mentioned in the OCI carte du jour.
• In case an OCI carte du jour holder who has attained the age of l years and has got his/her passport renewed later on but has not got his/her OCI card re-issued on renewal of his/her passport, he/she may travel on the strength of the existing OCI bill of fare along with the old and new passports.
• It is, still, brash that OCI cardholders may accept steps to comply with the existing OCI guidelines in Para 1 above and renew their OCI cards as required by the rules.
